Daily Devotion

We walk through these four steps each day as we spend time with God. In this context, the "spirit" of devotion points to the heart, the place that holds our emotions, thoughts, and intentions. The goal of devotion is to bring our hearts back into focus with God and His truth so they can be adjusted and restored. Scripture reminds us, "Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life" (Proverbs 4:23). The condition of our hearts shapes the way we live, act, and respond. Because of that, devotion is a practice of letting God renew and cleanse us from the inside out.

Worship

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth. You have set Your glory above the heavens! (Psalm 8:1 CCB)

Repentance

Holy Spirit, shine Your light on my life today. Reveal the things You have called me to do that I have still left undone, and the things You do not delight in that I still choose to pursue. God, according to Your lovingkindness, have mercy on me. According to Your great compassion, blot out my transgressions in _______. Wash away my sin and cleanse me from my guilt. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, give me a willing spirit to obey You, and lead me to make a real change through _______.

During this time of repentance, invite the Holy Spirit to expose the sin in your life. Bring those things before God and ask for His mercy, forgiveness, and the courage to change.

Scripture Reflection

Proverbs 14 and 2 Corinthians 1

  1. What do you sense God is saying to you through today's Scripture?
  2. What action or change can you make in response?

Read the passages slowly and sit with them. Let God's Word go deep into your heart and speak to the real condition of your life.

Prayer

God, I place my ___, _______, and ______ into Your hands. I trust that You reign over each of these things.

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

Bring your own needs and the needs of others into the prayer above, then close with the Lord's Prayer as an act of surrender to God.
